Wisconsin is No. 1 in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association poll for the first time in program history. The 14-1 Badgers moved up to No. 1 after beating Rutgers and Illinois, while Minnesota dropped from the top spot after a loss to Penn State. The Badgers have been No. 2 for four weeks this season.
The Badgers got 50 of the 64 first-place votes in the AVCA poll. No. 2 Nebraska got the other 14.
The Big Ten has the top three teams in the nation — Wisconsin, Nebraska and Minnesota — and six other teams in the top 25. No. 10 Penn State, No. 14 Michigan State, No. 18 Michigan, No. 19 Ohio State, No. 22 Purdue and No. 24 Illinois round it out.
