Game proceeds will go toward a scholarship fund in the Waisman Early Childhood Program. One third of the children in the program have special health care needs, according to a news release.
“The Waisman Center does tremendous work and helps a large number of families,” Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez said in the release. “We are extremely proud to partner with them on this year’s Spring Game and excited to help specifically with their Early Childhood Program that positively affects so many kids.”
In two seasons, coach Paul Chryst has gone 21-6 with the Badgers. After going 10-3 with a Holiday Bowl win in 2015, Wisconsin went 11-3 and reached the Big Ten Championship Game last season. The Badgers then gave Western Michigan its first loss of the season in a 24-16 Cotton Bowl win.
Wisconsin will practice 14 times before the spring game, starting on March 14. The Badgers open the season Friday, Sept. 1, at home against Utah State.
