Wisconsin remained at No. 5 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, an unsurprising development with the four teams in from of the Badgers all winning in Week 12. After the release, ESPN personalities discussed several scenarios that could be in play for the final rankings.
One scenario involved Miami losing to Clemson in the ACC Championship Game, which would pit Miami and Wisconsin against each other.
“Miami’s strength of schedule or record is better than just about anyone in America, so I think they would have a lot to say in that situation,” Booger McFarland said. “I think Wisconsin, even in that scenario, might be in trouble.”
“Iowa’s not ranked now, Michigan’s not ranked now, Joey Galloway said. Wisconsin’s schedule “went from ugly to OK back to ugly.”
Wisconsin is coming off a 24-10 win over Michigan in Week 12, with a place in the Big Ten Championship Game against Ohio State already secured. The Badgers play Minnesota for Paul Bunyan’s Axe on Saturday.
