The University of Wisconsin began a year-long celebration of Camp Randall Stadium on Tuesday with an event inside the stadium’s Heritage Hall featuring Barry Alvarez, Paul Chryst, Ron Dayne and Pat Richter sharing some of their favorite memories of the stadium.
Camp Randall Stadium opened in 1917 and, among the plans to commemorate the building reaching the century mark, Wisconsin will reveal a list of “100 individuals who shaped the first century of Camp Randall Stadium,” the school announced in a release Tuesday.
Beginning May 24, the school will unveil a member of the “Camp Randall 100” each day leading up to the season opener Sept. 1 against Utah State.
The group will be chosen by Wisconsin administrators, former players and local media, but fans will also have a say in the process through a variety of processes.
More information on the voting can be found in the release, which also stated that a series of “special events, in-game celebrations, unique fan experiences and much more are being planned for 2017.”
