On Sunday, the NBA’s Sacramento Kings announced that they signed former Wisconsin forward Nigel Hayes to a contract.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news on Friday, tweeting that the Kings will sign Hayes for the remainder of this season and next season. The Kings made it official on Sunday, and Hayes made his Kings debut that night in a 84-83 road win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

In all, Hayes played 22 minutes off the bench and scored 3 points in the win. While he did struggle shooting from the floor, only shooting 1 of 7 (1 of 4 from 3-point range), he did grab 3 rebounds, dish out an assist, block 1 shot and finish with a plus-minus of +3.

The 6-foot-8 Hayes averaged 15 points, 6 rebounds and 34 minutes per game in 43 games (35 starts) this season for the G League’s Westchester Knicks and Raptors 905. He also played in two games each for the Lakers and the Toronto Raptors this season, totaling 9 points and 2 assists in those contests.
In four seasons at Wisconsin from 2013-17, Hayes averaged 12.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 44.6 percent from the floor.
