Wisconsin quarterback Alex Hornibrook has never played music in front of his own mother before, much less in front of a live crowd.
But like he does under center on Saturdays, he left it all out on the field…or stage.
And he crushed it.
Hornibrook performed at the 2018 Buckinghams, the university’s annual student-athlete talent show, bringing the house down with a rendition of Zac Brown Band’s “Chicken Fried.”

Before starting, Hornibrook told the crowd he’d never performed live before, not even in front of his mother. The only time people have seen him play was in the rehearsal in front of 10 people.
“[My mother] asked me last week if she could come out to watch,” Hornibrook said. “But she’s not here, so that’s how I answered that one, but she’s probably watching on Instagram live or something, so we’ll be good.”
