Wisconsin-Ohio State. Camp Randall Stadium. Night game. It’s an exciting recipe.
Camp Randall carries a reputation as one of the most raucous stadiums in the country, to the point that former opponent Kirk Herbstreit is calling it “as electric and intimidating as there is in the country” in a new video released by Wisconsin.
On Oct. 3, 1992, with Barry Alvarez in the process of building Wisconsin to the conference stalwart it is today, Herbstreit and No. 12 Ohio State walked into Camp Randall and found themselves separated from a crazed crowd by troopers in riot gear and a chain-link fence.
“Man, are we about to go into a gladiator pit? What are we doing here?” Herbstreit said he recalled thinking. Wisconsin went on to win that game 20-16.
