The Wisconsin rattlesnake? Badgers basketball star Nigel Hayes channels Stone Cold Steve Austin in a hilarious video
If you’ve followed Nigel Hayes over the years, you know there’s not much that the 6-foot-8 senior-to-be at Wisconsin can’t do.
Thursday night, Hayes tried his hand at a different sport and took it to a whole new level. In doing so, he may have created the next social media craze: Channeling WWE superstar “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
We’ve all heard of the ice bucket challenge and more recently the #RunningManChallenge, but get ready for the next big thing: the #StoneColdSteveAustinChallenge.
Here is Hayes, in a must see video, re-enacting one of the Texas Rattlesnake’s greatest moments outside of the Kohl Center.

That friends, is a 10 across the board. Innovation? Check. Inspiration? Check. Execution? Check.
The affable Ohio native has made himself a fan – and media – favorite during his three seasons in Madison by not being taking his stardom too seriously.
After the Badgers NCAA tournament opener in 2015, Hayes made headlines by rattling off a list of insane words like “cattywampus, onomatopoeia and antidisestablishmentarianism” in order to try and confuse the stenographer that was tasked with transcribing the event. Then he proceeded to reveal his affinity for the young lady’s appearance into what he thought was a dead microphone, only to find out it wasn’t. That led to this tweet apologizing for his amorous intention. Hayes has handled it all in stride, making sure to enjoy being a college student, not just an athlete at a major university.
Oh yeah, he’s pretty good at basketball, too. The Toledo, Ohio native earned first team All-Big Ten as a junior by leading the Badgers in scoring and assists and finishing second per game in rebounds. Still, he may leave a bigger impression on the Big Ten for the fun-loving way he’s handled himself off the court.
Well done, Nigel.
