Poll Talk: No letdown for Wisconsin on the field or in the polls
It would have been easy for Wisconsin to follow the 16-14 upset win against then-No. 5 LSU with a disappointing result, especially considering the Badgers jumped from not ranked all the way to No. 10 in the AP Poll as a sign of quickly gained respect.
But Wisconsin didn’t lose momentum, rolling Akron 54-10 to get to 2-0. The Badgers have what should be another easy game next week against Georgia State before Big Ten play begins at Michigan State.
Previous rankings (Coaches/AP): No. 16/No. 10
New rankings (Coaches/AP): No. 12/No. 9
Last result: 54-10 win against Akron
What it means: After upsetting LSU, the Badgers looked good again, making quick work of Akron. That means voters have no reason to doubt Wisconsin — instead, there’s more evidence that the Badgers are for real. The schedule gets much, much tougher after the Georgia State game, but Wisconsin certainly looks like one of the nation’s most impressive teams through the first two weeks. The polls reflect that.
