When Wisconsin upset then-AP No. 5 LSU 16-14 this past weekend, the Badgers assured themselves of a spot in the new polls.
The only question was: How high will Wisconsin go? The Badgers were unranked going into the opening game, so how would voters treat the Badgers?
Now we know.
Previous rankings (Coaches/AP): NR/NR
New rankings (Coaches/AP): No. 16/No. 10
Last result: 16-14 win against No. 6/No. 5 LSU
What it means: Wisconsin certainly gained plenty of respect after bottling up Heisman contender Leonard Fournette for most of the night and for beating what was predicted to be one of the nation’s best teams in LSU. It’ll be interesting now to see how Wisconsin handles the extra attention that comes with being ranked. The Badgers face Akron this week before playing Georgia State, so the opportunity is there to move up even more in the upcoming weeks.
But the big story is this: Wisconsin went from unranked all the way to No. 10 in the AP Poll.
