College basketball season is just around the corner, which means it’s time for another round of preseason watch lists.
The Jerry West Award, Julius Erving Award and Bob Cousy Award watch lists have already been announced, and on Thursday, the Karl Malone Award Watch List, which features three Big Ten players, was released.
Michigan State freshman Miles Bridges, Purdue sophomore Caleb Swanigan and Wisconsin senior Nigel Hayes are among the 20 players on the preseason watch list for the award, which recognizes the best power forward in the country.
Bridges is a five-star recruit who headlines the Spartans’ heralded freshman class.
Swanigan elected to return to school after he considered entering the NBA draft following his freshman season in which he averaged 10.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
Hayes averaged 15.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game as a junior.
Iowa State’s Georges Niang won the award last season.
