Wisconsin stunned LSU to begin the season. Apparently the Tigers have since become believers in the Badgers.
ESPN writer Ryan McGee has an interesting tidbit in his story.
After the Badgers routed then-No. 8 Michigan State 30-6 on Saturday, an LSU staff member texted McGee to tell him “I told u dude. Don’t sleep on Wisky. Wisky is damn good.”
As the telecast wrapped up with a quick recap of the stunning final score — Wisconsin 30, Michigan State 6 — and before end-of-show copyrights had vanished from my TV screen, a text came in from a friend on the LSU football staff as the Tigers were preparing to meet Auburn on The Plains (more on that in a minute):
“I TOLD U DUDE. DON’T SLEEP ON WISKY. WISKY IS DAMN GOOD.”
Wisconsin went from unranked to start the season and are now No. 8, with another great chance to rise even further this weekend. The Badgers travel to No. 4 Michigan on Saturday, where a win should finally convince any remaining doubters that Wisconsin is, well, “damn good.”
Plus, considering how the SEC is often seen as the best conference, this text from an LSU staffer must make Wisconsin (and Big Ten) fans feel good about this season.
