Former Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon is enjoying a breakout season for the San Diego Chargers.
After gaining just 641 yards and scoring zero touchdowns during his rookie season, the 6-foot-1, 215-pound back accumulated 572 yards and 8 rushing touchdowns in just the first half of his sophomore campaign.
Then came Sunday. Gordon turned in his most impressive performance in the NFL to date against the Tennessee Titans, rushing for 196 yards and a touchdown and hauling in 4 balls for 65 more yards. He finished the game with a career-high 261 yards from scrimmage, more than 100 yards better than his previous best.
The production helped the Chargers beat the Titans, 43-35. And it likely reminded a few Wisconsin fans of what Gordon made a habit of doing on fall Saturdays from 2011-14. Gordon rushed for 4,915 yards and 45 touchdowns for the Badgers.
