D.J. Gillins, a former Wisconsin quarterback, will transfer to SMU. He announced his decision on Instagram.
Gillins announced in January that he would be leaving the Badgers program. He was a highly touted prospect but moved from quarterback to receiver while at Wisconsin as he didn’t fit into then-new coach Paul Chryst’s offensive system at quarterback.
When he revealed he would be leaving Wisconsin, Gillins was appreciative of his time there but said, “I’m going back to what I do best.”
Gillins transferred to Pearl River Community College in Mississippi. Now it seems he’ll get a chance to see what he can do with the Mustangs.
