The Wisconsin defense left little doubt when the players walked off the field following Saturday’s 30-6 win at Michigan State.
The Badgers have one of the nation’s best defenses. Again.
ESPN’s Jesse Temple has certainly noticed, as he led off his Big Ten helmet stickers story with Wisconsin’s defense. The Badgers forced tour turnovers (intercepting Tyler O’Connor three times) and held No. 8 Michigan State without a touchdown. Wisconsin’s fumble return score early in the second quarter helped ensure the Badgers would cruise.
Temple’s other Big Ten standouts:
- Nebraska QB Tommy Armstrong: Armstrong passed for 246 yards and one TD while rushing for 132 yards in the Huskers’ 24-13 win at Northwestern to remain unbeaten.
- Michigan’s rushing attack: The Wolverines ran for 326 yards and six TDs on 49 attempts, with De’Veon Smith leading the group with his 107 yards on only 12 carries.
- Indiana WRs Ricky Jones and Nick Westbrook: Indiana lost to Wake Forest, but the duo combined for 337 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Westbrook caught both scores, including a 75-yard touchdown only 13 seconds into the game.
- Iowa DB Brandon Snyder: The safety made 13 tackles as the Hawkeyes got just enough to win at Rutgers, 14-7. But Snyder’s biggest play was when he forced a fumble that helped lead to Iowa’s late touchdown.
