The next hurdle for No. 5 Wisconsin on its path to the college football playoff comes in the form of No. 24 Michigan on Saturday afternoon.
With a not-so-appetizing slate of college football in Week 12, the Wisconsin-Michigan matchup is one of the most anticipated in the country. It’s the only game this week featuring a pair of ranked opponents, and ESPN’s College GameDay will be on-site in Madison ahead of the 12 p.m. ET kick.
Desmond Howard, a College GameDay analyst, joined SportsCenter on Friday morning to discuss the matchup. He said the key to the game for the undefeated Badgers will be slowing down Michigan’s talented defensive line.
“If Wisconsin can win the battle in the trenches, control the line of scrimmage, then they’ll win the game,” Howard said.
It will be strength vs. strength up front for Michigan’s defensive line against Wisconsin’s offensive line. Michigan has 33 sacks and 84 tackles for loss on the season. Both of those marks rank in the top 7 nationally.
Wisconsin’s offensive line has surrendered just 14 sacks and 48 tackles for loss in 10 games this season. The Badgers also have the nation’s 16th-best rushing offense, averaging 245.0 yards per game on the ground.
Howard and the rest of the GameDay crew will make their picks for the game on Saturday morning.
