The Bret Bielema era is officially over at Arkansas. The Razorbacks fired their head coach on Friday evening, making the announcement shortly after Arkansas lost to Missouri, 48-45.
Arkansas went 4-8 in 2017 and Bielema, who left Wisconsin for the SEC, was 29-34 in 5 seasons with the Razorbacks.

“During the course of the of the past five seasons, we have not been able to sustain the success on the field that is expected and required by the University of Arkansas,” interim Arkansas athletic director Julie Cromer Peoples said in a statement. “There is no question that Coach Bielema has been a valued and respected member of our department and has made a positive impact on the lives of our student-athletes.”
Before leaving for Arkansas, Bielema coached Wisconsin for 7 seasons, and he led the Badgers to 3 straight Rose Bowl appearances in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons. In 5 seasons since Bielema left, Wisconsin is 52-13.
