Minnesota may be getting its returning rusher from 2015 back this Saturday against Colorado State.
Shannon Brooks, who rushed for a team-high 709 yards and 7 touchdowns as a freshman, is listed third on the depth chart after starter Rodney Smith and junior Kobe McCrary.
Brooks hasn’t played yet this season due to a foot injury. The Gophers are still off to a 2-0 start without him, beating Oregon State and Indiana State. Smith leads the team with 199 yards and 3 touchdowns while McCrary is second with 180 yards and two scores.
If Minnesota does get Brooks back this week, the Gophers will have a solid group to work with when they play the Rams at noon (ET) on ESPNU.
