Rutgers bolstered its basketball roster Monday, landing a 7-foot graduate transfer.
C.J. Gettys, who has played the last three seasons with UNC-Wilmington, is transferring to Rutgers according to Gannett’s Jerry Carino.

Gettys gives the Scarlett Knights and new coach Steve Pikiell some depth in the front court. Gettys will be eligible immediately.
At UNC-Wilmington, Gettys averaged 4.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game in 68 contests. In the 2015-16 campaign, he averaged 5.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 15.6 minutes per game as a redshirt junior – all of which were career highs. He helped the Seahawks win the CAA Tournament and advance to the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to defending champion Duke in the first round.
Gettys made intentions to transfer following the season. At Rutgers, he will be the tallest player on the team and also the oldest as the squad’s only fifth-year player.
