As National Signing Day approaches, Rutgers football has had its share of attrition with nine de-commitments.
Here are the Scarlet Knights’ de-commits and where they are ending up.
4-star ATH Atrilleon Williams (White Plains, N.Y.) — Signed with Syracuse
Atrilleon Williams was an early 4-star athlete commit for the Scarlet Knights as he made his verbal pledge on November 29, 2016.
Just over a month later, though, Williams de-committed on January 16, 2017. After taking visits and meeting with coaches from multiple teams, Williams then tabbed Syracuse as his new school on March 27, then signed with the Orange on Dec. 20.
3-star ATH Amad Anderson (Staten Island, N.Y.) — Signed with Purdue
3-star athlete Amad Anderson was a summer commit for the Scarlet Knights, verbally pledging on Aug. 6, 2017.
A little over two months later, Anderson made a switch, announcing his de-commitment on Oct. 18. Over the next two months, he was courted by Purdue and made his verbal commitment on Nov. 8, before signing on Dec. 20.
3-star OLB Jayden McDonald (Suwanee, Ga.) — Undecided
On June 21, 2017, 3-star outside linebacker Jayden McDonald verbally committed to the Scarlet Knights.
But after gaining an Iowa offer, McDonald took back his pledge on Jan. 5, 2018 and has had his recruitment open since.
The Hawkeyes are listed as warm, though 247Sports has McDonald at a 100% chance of going to Ole Miss.
3-star S Rachad Wildgoose Jr. (Miami, Fl.) — Undecided
Rachad Wildgoose Jr., a 3-star safety, made his verbal commitment to the Scarlet Knights on April 15, 2017, one day after an unofficial visit.
Barely a month later, the safety de-committed and has since added a number of offers and taken a number of visits with his recruitment still open.
According to 247Sports.com, Georgia has the upper hand with UCF in the hunt as well as of now.
3-star WR EJ Turner (Cartersville, Ga.) — Signed with Kansas State
3-star wide receiver EJ Turner committed to the Scarlet Knights on July 22, 2017 before reigning on that pledge on Oct. 3, 2017.
After a quiet period leading into December, Turner announced his verbal to Kansas State on Dec. 19 then signed on Dec. 20.
3-star RB Stevie Scott (Syracuse, N.Y.) — Signed with Indiana
On August 8, 2017, 3-star running back Stevie Scott announced his verbal commitment to the Scarlet Knights.
Then, after taking an official visit to Indiana and the Scarlet Knights in early December, Scott decided to de-commit from the latter on Dec. 14. One day later, he committed to the Hoosiers and signed with them on Dec. 20.
3-star DE Travon King (Camden, N.J.) — Committed to Temple
Travon King, a 3-star defensive end, decided to give his verbal pledge to the Scarlet Knights on Aug. 26, 2017 and had a relatively quiet recruiting period for about three months.
On Dec. 22, though, King de-committed and re-opened his recruitment. Almost exactly a month later, he committed to Temple and while 247Sports still gives the Scarlet Knights a chance to land him, he is seen as a hard Owls commit.
3-star dual-threat QB Sean Chambers (Kerman, Calif.) — Signed with Wyoming
3-star dual-threat quarterback Sean Chambers was offered by the Scarlet Knights on June 17, 2017 and committed on the same day.
On Oct. 2, though, Chambers announced his de-commitment from the team and one day later announced his verbal pledge to Wyoming. Two months later, on Dec. 20, he signed with the Cowboys.
3-star OG Travis Jones (New Haven, Conn.) — Signed with Connecticut
3-star offensive guard Travis Jones’ commitment and de-commitment from the Scarlet Knights both came in just two days. On June 23, 2017, after an unofficial visit, Jones pledged to the team but one day later decided to de-commit on the 24th.
About a month later, Jones committed to Connecticut on July 27, 2017 and signed with the Huskies on Dec. 20.
