After amassing a 6-18 record in the last two seasons, Rutgers football fans haven’t had much to cheer about for some time. Now finally, a glimmer of hope.
Three-star QB Jalen Chatman, the 34th-ranked dual-threat quarterback in 2018 by 247Sports, committed to the Scarlet Knights on Monday. The Harbor City, Calif., native is also the No. 100 recruit from the state. He represents Rutgers’ third commit for 2018, joining 3-star CB Jarrett Paul and 2-star Rachad Wildgoose Jr.

The 6-foot, 170-pound Chatman recorded 3,926 passing yards and 52 touchdowns as a junior at Narbonne High School. He also rushed for 622 yards and 6 scores. After failing to collect a 1,000-yard passer a season ago, the Scarlet Knights must be thrilled to add a dynamic signal-caller into the mix.
