At 2-5, Rutgers was in need of a change.
On Monday, Scarlet Knights coach Chris Ash officially made one.
The coach announced that redshirt sophomore quarterback Gio Rescigno will be getting the start on Saturday against Minnesota, replacing redshirt junior Chris Laviano, who’s made 18 straight starts.
Rescigno was 10 of 18 for 120 yards with a touchdown and an interception when he replaced Laviano in the team’s 24-7 loss to Illinois last weekend.
Laviano was 7 of 12 for 62 yards. On the season, he has completed 70 passes and thrown for 748 yards along with five touchdowns and two picks.
