Rutgers football coach Chris Ash knew he was inhering a rebuilding program, and in his second season the Scarlet Knights doubled their win total from 2 to 4. As Ash hopes to lead Rutgers to the next level in a competitive Big Ten, he knows he’ll need fan engagement to create a buzz around the program.
That’s why he recently stopped by a campus dining hall, along with the Scarlet Knights mascot, to help generate interest for the team’s upcoming spring game. Ash posed for photos, shook hands and gave away team memorabilia.

Rutgers’ spring game is set for April 14 at 3:30 p.m. ET at High Points Solution Stadium. After the game, students can claim free t-shirts and get autographs from players.
The Scarlet Knights’ path to exceed last season’s win total certainly won’t be easy. They open against Texas State, but in their second game of the season the team plays at Ohio State. From there, the schedule softens a bit, with games against Kansas, Buffalo, Indiana, Illinois and Maryland, a stretch Rutgers hopes to capitalize on. The Scarlet Knights then close the season against Northwestern, Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn State and Michigan State.
