Rutgers is set to get a new look next season.
According to NJ.com, the Scarlet Knights have agreed to terms of an apparel deal with Adidas. The reported deal is for six years and worth a little more than $10 million. An official announcement is expected later this week.
Rutgers would be switching to Adidas from Nike. The university’s deal with Nike expires at the end of June 2017, according to the report.
The change in clothing brands could be a good thing for Rutgers, which was ranked last among Power 5 schools on Forbes’ 2016 list of most valuable college sports apparel deals. Forbes valued Rutgers’ current deal with Nike at $1.39 million per year.
Rutgers unveiled new “Dark Knight” Nike uniforms ahead of the 2016 season. It looks like the team will have another fresh set of threads entering the 2017 campaign.
