The fourth annual “Evening with Eric LeGrand” fundraiser in Bedminster, N.J., raised more than $46,000 on Thursday night. The money will benefit Team LeGrand, which is part of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation for people with spinal cord injuries.
LeGrand is a former Rutgers defensive tackle who was paralyzed while making a tackle in October 2010.
The fundraiser was hosted by Newroads Financial Group at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club, about 30 miles away from Rutgers, and attended by about 135 people, according to NJ.com.
“That was amazing!” a genuinely surprised LeGrand said after hearing the final total raised through tickets purchased and auction items on a rainy night.
“Every year it just gets better and better. The people that come out and continue to support so I can talk to them and continue to show them what’s going on in this world with spinal cord injury, it really makes me proud. We’re weathering a storm and boom! We break a record tonight.”
