“I want to thank Coach Richt and his staff for believing in me, giving me an opportunity to play football at the next level, as well as their continuous support. I’ve had many sleepless and thoughtful nights throughout this process and I’m ready to turn a new page for the next chapter in my life. In my heart I believe that I cannot let the opportunity to play for my ‘Hometown School’ slip past me. I believe in this program and I am announcing today my commitment to Rutgers University. I believe that Coach Ash & Coach Kill and this great University will help me fulfill all of my dreams and aspirations. It has been a dream of mine to rep my home state. Thank you to everyone that has helped me in this process.”
Sitkowski, from Old Bridge, N.J., plays at the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. The 6-foot-5 quarterback is ranked by 247Sports composite as a 4-star prospect and the No. 113 player overall.
The recruiting website also ranks Sitkowski as the No. 5 pro-style quarterback. He has 27 offers from across the country, with Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio State, Purdue and Wisconsin as Big Ten teams who have offered.
With Sitkowski’s commitment, Rutgers now has its first 4-star recruit in the 2018 class. The Scarlet Knights ― according to 247Sports ― have the No. 41-ranked class in the country and No. 10 in the Big Ten.
