A lot of eyes were drawn to a top-15 matchup on Monday night in West Lafayette.
The contest between No. 15 Purdue and No. 3 Villanova drew the most viewers ever of any non-conference basketball game on the Big Ten Network. The game, a 79-76 win by the defending champion Wildcats, drew a 0.41 Nielsen rating, the Big Ten Network stated in a press release.
“The Big Ten Network saw its highest viewership for non-conference men’s basketball in its history on Monday night, with the Top-15 non-conference matchup between No. 3 ranked and defending National Champion Villanova visiting No. 15 ranked Purdue,” the release said. “BTN earned a 0.41 HH rating in the network’s 12 metered markets, topping its previous record set in December 2015 by 10 percent (Butler vs. Purdue).”
The matchup was one of many marquee games the conference has in November and December. Landof10’s Sean Keeler took a look at what non-conference games are going to matter the most for Big Ten teams come Selection Sunday.
