Purdue football’s 2018 spring game gets underway on Saturday, April 14. Below find the game time, TV channel, online stream information and rosters.
The Boilermakers are in their second spring under coach Jeff Brohm after finishing 6-6 in Brohm’s first season in West Lafayette. They’ll enter their second season with bigger expectations in the Big Ten West. Just reaching .500 was an achievement last year. Now the expectation is that Purdue will contend for at least second place in the division.
Spring games won’t tell you that much, but it’ll be our last glimpse at Purdue’s football team until the season starts. Here’s what you need to know:

3 storylines to watch for Purdue’s 2018 spring game
What’s up with quarterbacks?
Purdue split reps between quarterbacks last season, with Elijah Sindelar attempting 329 passes to David Blough’s 157. Blough injured his right leg on Nov. 4 against Illinois and missed the rest of the season. Sindelar took over full-time at that point, and what we didn’t know until the season ended was that he actually tore his ACL the week after — and kept playing through Purdue’s Foster Farms Bowl win over Arizona.
Early enrollee Jack Plummer is one of the names on the depth chart who could see some playing time on Saturday.
“He’s come in here and picked up the offense very quickly,” offensive coordinator Brian Brohm said, “is very studious during the meetings and executes at a pretty high level for somebody that technically is in high school and should be getting ready for prom right now.”
Is Jeff Brohm’s offense going to do anything weird?
Last year, we got this:

Purdue probably won’t be able to take over college football Twitter with a spring game trick play again. (This is a jinx. Please, Purdue, do something fun again so that spring games can be fun.)
In all seriousness, Purdue’s offense is going to need to take a big step up in 2018, so this is our first glimpse at that. Though Brohm’s fun offense was more popular with the general public in 2017, Purdue’s defense was actually its strength. With a veteran quarterback leading the way (whether it’s Blough or Sindelar) teamed up with a quality stable of running backs in D.J. Knox, Markell Jones and Richie Worship, Purdue’s offense needs to move up from 60th in S&P+.
Purdue’s defense lost a lot after a good 2017. What’s that going to look like?
Purdue’s defense ranked 35th in S&P+ last season. That was up from 99th in 2016, 73rd in 2015 and 58th in 2014. This was a wonderful effort from coordinator Nick Holt. 2018 will likely be a bigger challenge. Holt loses seven of his top 10 tacklers from last season after stopping the run was a strength, and No. 11 was Eddy Wilson, who left for the NFL after his junior season. The spring game will be a chance to see who’s ready to fill the void up front.
