Jeff Brohm has already exceeded expectations as Purdue’s first-year head coach, and his Week 4 opponent has noticed.
“The team’s done a tremendous job,” Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters Monday. “Coaching staff should be an early favorite for coach of the year. They’ve done a tremendous job.”
Purdue is 2-1 after a 35-3 thrashing of Missouri on Saturday, giving the Boilermakers only one fewer win than they had all of last year. Brohm’s team just needs one more win to exceed Vegas’s over-under of 2.5 wins on the season, but that’ll be a tough ask against a Michigan team that features one of the most deadly defensive units in the nation. The Wolverines defeated Air Force, 29-13, to improve to 3-0 over the weekend. Michigan won the teams’ last meeting, 44-13, in 2012.
“We’re on to the meat of the schedule, and it starts off against a doggone good opponent that is very talented,” Brohm told reporters on Monday. “There’s a lot of speed, and we’ve got our hands full.”
