Purdue is one of the hottest names in the Big Ten and new head coach Jeff Brohm seems to be the prime reason why.
Brohm got a little credit Wednesday when CBS Sports named him one of the five most underrated coaches in college football. It’s not hard to see why, as the Boilermakers steamrolled SEC opponent Missouri on the road Saturday and will likely enter Week 4 in the Big Ten spotlight as a trendy upset pick against Michigan.
Here’s what CBS’ Barrett Sallee had to say.
When was the last time anybody could say Purdue annihilated anybody — much less an SEC team on the road? Brohm won 30 games in three years at Western Kentucky before moving to West Lafayette, Indiana, and has the passing prowess to make life miserable for opposing defensive coordinators who struggle to prepare for his high-octane passing offense.
It should be noted that while Brohm might still be fairly underrated, people are definitely beginning to take notice of the job he’s done in West Lafayette. He’s been getting rave reviews from the media and Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh has identified him as an early favorite for Coach of the Year awards.
