Purdue moved all the way into the top 5 of the latest Associated Press Top 25 this week. The Boilermakers hold an even more impressive spot in another ranking system.
Purdue, the winner of 12 straight games, is the No. 1 team in the updated Sagarin ratings ― an analytic ranking system that lists every Division I team in the country from No. 1 to No. 351. Here’s the full top 10 as of Thursday:
- Michigan State
- West Virginia
- North Carolina
Matt Painter’s team has not lost a game since falling to Western Kentucky in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas on Nov. 23. Purdue (16-2) has won a dozen games in a row since, including all five of its Big Ten contests so far.
Most recently, the Boilermakers earned a tough, 70-69 road win at Michigan on Tuesday night. They will try to make it 13 in a row when they face Minnesota in Minneapolis on Saturday at noon ET..
