On Monday, Purdue tabbed former Western Kentucky coach Jeff Brohm to lead its program. If Brohm hadn’t worked out, however, the Boilermakers would have turned to Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead, according to Football Scoop.

Moorhead was head coach of Fordham, his alma mater, before accepting a job at Penn State last December. In his first season as Nittany Lions offensive coordinator, Penn State ranked fourth in the Big Ten with 430 yards per game and third with 36.7 points per game.
But Purdue instead picked Brohm, who went 30-10 in three seasons at Western Kentucky.
