Purdue basketball added a valuable piece to its 2019 recruiting class Sunday, as 4-star prospect Mason Gillis committed to the Boilermakers via Twitter.

Gillis, a 6-foot-6 power forward from New Castle, Ind., chose coach Matt Painter and Co. over fellow in-state program Butler as well as Xavier and Ohio State. He’s the No. 7 recruit in Indiana and the No. 122 overall prospect for 2019, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s listed as the 24th-best power forward in the class.
And both players may be looked at to contribute right away, especially since the Boilermakers lost four of their five starters from last season.
