Gerad Parker won’t be coaching at East Carolina after being arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated on early Tuesday morning, ESPN’s Brett McMurphy reports.
Parker was considered the front-runner for the Pirates’ wide receivers job after resigning from his new post as running backs coach at Cincinnati to go to ECU, according to ESPN. He was never officially hired by East Carolina.
Parker became Purdue’s interim coach after Darrell Hazell was fired in October. He went 0-6, and new coach Jeff Brohm did not keep him on staff.
Parker has primarily coached wide receivers for the last decade after playing his college football at Kentucky.
