Purdue ended the Darrell Hazell era Sunday, opening the second Power 5 job this year.
Who will the Boilermakers target to turn their program around? Landof10 listed 10 potential candidates Sunday night and our Ohio State writers outlined why three different Buckeyes assistants could work in West Lafayette. More media outlets are weighing in about the next person to conduct the Purdue train.
Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman put out his own list, which features 12 coaches. The biggest name on the list, and the biggest free agent in college football coaching right now, is former LSU coach Les Miles. Miles’ name has been swirling around the job since even before Hazell’s firing, and Gregg Doyel of the Indianapolis Star said the school should go after Miles whether they can afford him or not.
Also featured on Feldman’s list was Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano, Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, Western Michigan coach and 35-year-old coaching wunderkind P.J. Fleck and Temple coach Matt Rhule, a former Penn State linebacker.
