Hummel was last seen in the NBA during the 2014-2015 season when he played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he averaged 4.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.
In July 2015, Hummel left the NBA and signed overseas with the Italian team Emporio Armani Milano. He parted with the team in February 2016 after a serious shoulder injury.
