Purdue basketball hosts defending champion Villanova on Nov. 14, and former guard Rapheal Davis is pumped about it.
On Wednesday, just over a month before the game in West Lafayette, David tweeted, “I get goosebumps when I think abt how crazy Mackey is going to be when them boys play Nova!! I can’t wait!!”

The Purdue-Villanova game is the opener of the second annual Gavitt Tip-Off Games, a competition between the Big Ten and Big East. Other contests in the event include Maryland-Georgetown, Wisconsin-Creighton, Northwestern-Butler, Seton Hall-Iowa, Providence-Ohio State, Rutgers-DePaul and St. John’s-Minnesota.
Davis played at Purdue for four years before graduating after the 2015-16 season. He was named 2015 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and is one of eight players in school history with 1,000 career points, 500 rebounds and 200 assists.
Purdue is expected to finish toward the top of the Big Ten this season thanks to a balanced team led by sophomore Caleb Swanigan.
The Boilermakers are 0-2 all-time against Villanova, most recently falling to the Wildcats in the 2012 2K Sports Classic.
