The job was likely his to lose, but now it’s official.
David Blough will start at quarterback for Purdue in its season opener against Eastern Kentucky, coach Darrell Hazell announced Monday.
Blough started eight games as a freshman in 2015 before a concussion against Iowa ended his year. He completed 57.7 percent of his passes for 5.4 yards per attempt with 10 TDs and 8 INTs.
Redshirt freshman Elijah Sindelar was the other quarterback in the mix. He was a 3-star prospect in the class of 2015 and the No. 18 pocket passer in the country.
Blough will be the fourth different QB to start the season in Hazell’s four years. This is a pivotal fall for the coach — Purdue is 6-30 with just two Big Ten wins in his three seasons.
