Franklin is the No. 61 athlete in the class of 2017 and the No. 25 player in Virginia. He picked the Nittany Lions over Maryland, Virginia Tech, Syracuse and Temple.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect plays defensive line for Battlefield High, but projects as a safety or outside linebacker at the next level, according to PennLive.com, depending on how he grows.
Here are Franklin’s high school highlights. He also plays wide receiver.
Franklin is the 13th commit in Penn State’s 2017 class after going dry between April and late July. Coach James Franklin’s staff has picked up 4-star safety Jonathan Sutherland, 3-star OLB/S Brelin Faison-Walden, 3-star athlete Derrek Pitts and 3-star WR Cameron Sullivan-Brown all in the last two weeks.
