Trent Dilfer said he thinks Trace McSorley should be at the top of the list of 2018 Heisman Trophy candidates. Dilfer and McSorley worked together last week at an Elite 11 camp, and the former NFL quarterback came away impressed with McSorley.
Dilfer compared McSorley to the 2017 Heisman winner, former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield.
“Trace McSorley is a rock star,” Dilfer said. “There is not a whole lot of difference between Baker Mayfield and Trace McSorley. In fact, I would argue that Trace throws it every bit as well if not better than Baker. Trace McSorley should be the front-runner for the Heisman.”

Trent Dilfer is impressed with Penn State’s Trace McSorley
McSorley, who threw for 3,570 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2017, enters the season as one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the country. He’ll be a third-year starter at Penn State, going for his second Big Ten title.
With Saquon Barkley off to the NFL, McSorley will be Penn State’s star this season. If he keeps the Nittany Lions in College Football Playoff contention, he’ll be in the Heisman conversation all season.
