Penn State has had a lot of good quarterbacks, but none have thrown for more yards in a season than Trace McSorley.
With his 38-yard pass to DaeSean Hamilton in the third quarter of the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday night, the Nittany Lions sophomore passed Matt McGloin for the record.
At the end of the third quarter, McSorley had thrown for 3,295 yards on the season. He began the game fourth on the single-season passing list, but jumped Christian Hackenberg (2,977 in 2014), Darryl Clark (3,003 in 2009) and McGloin (3,271 in 2012).
Also through three quarters, McSorley had completed 17 of 25 passes for 319 yards and 3 touchdowns in the game, and had led the Badgers back from a 28-7 deficit. Wisconsin led 31-28 heading to the fourth quarter.
