FanRag Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein published a list of 20 under-the-radar freshmen and five Big Ten players were included. Penn State guard Tony Carr, Minnesota wing Amir Coffey, Maryland guard Kevin Huerter, Iowa forward Tyler Cook and Purdue guard Carsen Edwards made the cut.
Carr is a 6-foot-4 point guard who was a 4-star recruit in high school.
Coffey, a 4-star prospect, is a 6-foot-8 wing who is the highest-rated recruit to enroll at Minnesota under coach Richard Pitino, according to Rothstein.
Huerter is a 6-foot-7 shooting guard who chose Maryland over Indiana, Iowa, Notre Dame, Penn State and Villanova, among others.
Cook was a 4-star recruit who Rothstein projects to start this season.
Edwards may have played his way into a starting spot in Purdue’s backcourt, according to Rothstein.
