State College police are bringing criminal charges against 13 people for their alleged roles in a riot near campus following Penn State’s win over Ohio State on Oct. 22, the police department announced Thursday.
Eleven of the 13 are current Penn State students and the other two are former students. They will be charged with crimes including felony riot, misdemeanor disorderly conduct and failure to disperse, and summary disorderly conduct, the State College Police Department said.
The riot, which came after the Nittany Lions defeated the Buckeyes 24-21 in State College, caused an estimated $30,000 worth of damages, mostly due to torn streetlights and signs as well as a few small fires. Last week, the Associated Press reported that 11 people would be charged, but the SCPD announced Thursday the number was actually 13.
Police are still seeking to identify other culprits. They request that anyone with information contact the State College Police Department at (814) 234-7150, by email at email@example.com or submit an anonymous tip through the State College Borough website (www.statecollegepa.us/anonymoustip).
