Saquon Barkley has dazzled Penn State fans for 28 games so far during his college career. But there’s a very good chance Barkley’s Nittany Lion career will come to an end at the conclusion of this season.
The running back is likely to be one of the first players drafted next April, assuming he forgoes his senior season at Penn State. Barkley will be right among the most talented players in the draft pool.
Barkley was listed at No. 2 on Matt Miller’s 2018 NFL Draft big board, which he published on Bleacher Report. The only player ahead of Barkley was USC quarterback Sam Darnold, who also put on a show in last season’s Rose Bowl.
Barkley, whose combination of size, speed and power make him a potential NFL star, already has 307 rushing yards, 241 receiving yards and five touchdowns through 3 games in 2017. Miller listed him as the most NFL-ready running back and the player with the most potential at his position.
The Penn State running back was one of four Big Ten players listed in the top 25 of Miller’s board. Ohio State linebacker Jerome Baker was 20th, Michigan defensive tackle Maurice Hurst was 23rd and Ohio State defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones was 25th.
