Saquon Barkley is giving fans in his hometown another reason to cheer.
The Chick-fil-A in Whitehall, Pa. announced it will hold a “Saquon Barkley appreciation day” on Monday, Jan. 15. The restaurant will give out free Chick-fil-A sandwiches to anyone who comes to the restaurant and says “Saquon” between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The Whitehall Chick-fil-A made the announcement Thursday on its Facebook page. Barkley, however, is not scheduled to make an appearance at the Chick-fil-A.
“We are so proud of Saquon Barkley, a Whitehall High School alumni, as he is getting prepared for the NFL Draft!” Chick-fil-A Whitehall wrote on Facebook. “To celebrate, we are having Saquon Barkley appreciation day!”
Barkley is heading to the NFL after three memorable seasons at Penn State. The star running back is considered by many analysts to be one of the top prospects in this year’s draft class and there’s a decent chance he becomes a top-5 pick in April.
He rushed for 3,843 yards, caught 102 passes for 1,195 yards and scored 54 total touchdowns (43 rushing, 8 receiving, 2 kick returning and 1 passing) during his time in a Penn State uniform. Barkley declared for the NFL Draft on Dec. 31, the day after rushing for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns against Washington in the Fiesta Bowl.
