Saquon Barkley said April is “going to be a big month” for him. And that’s not just because of the NFL Draft.
Barkley and his girlfriend, Anna Congdon, are expecting a baby days before the draft, which starts April 26. Congdon made the announcement Saturday (March 17) on her Instagram account, saying it was one month before the baby was due.
Speaking Tuesday at Penn State’s pro day, Barkley discussed his emotions on becoming a father.
“I’m excited. I’m not sure of the gender, that’s going to be a surprise, but April’s going to be a big month for me,” Barkley said, according to Greg Pickel of PennLive. “Some people aren’t even blessed with the opportunity to have kids, and I’m able to have one, and I’m truly excited to be a father.”
And if the baby is not born before Barkley hears his name called in the draft, he said he’ll be prepared to leave Arlington, Texas at any moment.

Barkley will almost certainly be a top-5 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, and he could go No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Browns. He attended Penn State’s pro day but did not go through drills after putting on a show at the NFL combine in early March.
