Barbour, 58, was the athletic director at Cal before taking the job at Penn State. She won the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Under Armour AD of the Year Award for the 2016-17 school year.
Barbour did not hire James Franklin, who also started at Penn State in 2014. But she was supportive of the Nittany Lions football coach during a shaky start to the 2016 season. Franklin, who is 22-5 in the last two seasons, agreed to a new contract with Penn State ahead of the 2017 campaign.
