Penn State got a nice consolation prize to being left out of the College Football Playoff with a Rose Bowl bid Sunday afternoon.
But it’s going to be a pricey ticket for any Nittany Lions fans making the trip to SoCal. As of Sunday evening, the cheapest ticket to Penn State’s Rose Bowl game with USC was $271 on secondary ticket site VividSeats. That is more than three times as expensive as tickets to see Ohio State and Clemson play in the College Football Playoff semifinal Fiesta Bowl. Those tickets were going for as cheap as $83.
The Rose Bowl seats more than 92,000 people, but the fact Los Angeles-based Southern Cal is playing in the game will likely drive up ticket prices. The Rose Bowl tickets appear to be the most expensive of any bowl game other than the national championship.
Here are prices for the cheapest listed ticket to major (New Year’s 6) bowl games as of Sunday evening on VividSeats:
Rose Bowl — Penn State vs. USC: $270
Peach Bowl (College Football Playoff Semifinal) — Alabama vs. Washington: $134
Orange Bowl — Michigan vs. Florida State: $110
Sugar Bowl — Auburn vs. Oklahoma: $104
Fiesta Bowl (College Football Playoff Semifinal) — Ohio State vs. Clemson – $83
