A recent decommit from Penn State’s 2017 class has found a new home in his home state.
Derrek Pitts, a 3-star athlete/safety, announced his commitment to West Virginia on Monday morning. Pitts, a Charleston, W.V. native, said he’s “coming home” in a Twitter post.

Pitts decommitted from the Nittany Lions earlier this month and joins a West Virginia 2017 class that is ranked 44th in the country by 247 Sports. Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions still have the 22nd-ranked 2017 class, which currently sits at 14 recruits.
Penn State and West Virginia are scheduled to meet in the future but not until the 2023 season.
