Penn State’s Saquon Barkley chooses favorite personal highlight
Saquon Barkley has had a lot of bright spots during his brief time at Penn State.
From hurdles to touchdowns during his freshman season to an electrifying run at practice last week, the running back is a threat to crack Sportscenter’s Top 10 every time he touches the football.
Nittany Lions fans probably all have their own favorite Barkely highlight, and on Wednesday when he met with reporters, Barkley was asked to name his.
The play that stands out most for Barkley was a touchdown run and leap he took last October in a win against Illinois.

Barkley explained his choice to Scout.com, which has a full video of his interview.
“The most surprising one to me was the Illinois one, where I jumped,” he said. “I wasn’t expecting it because my body literally just went up. I was a little nervous in the air seeing three guys under me, but I came down and scored a touchdown. A lot of my hurdles were pretty cool in my opinion, but the Illinois one I actually scored on. I’ll take a touchdown any day, on any play.”
What did he think when he watched the replay?
“I was like ‘Wow, you’re dumb for jumping from the 4-yard line,” he joked.
With Penn State’s first game just 17 days away, Barkely is primed to make plenty more sensational plays this fall.
